Health notes
May. 15th, 2007 09:04 pmLast week, I got a fine-needle aspiration (or some such wording) to biopsy my thyroid tumor, which has grown to take over my whole thyroid gland. The doctor did numb me this time (the last doc didn't), but when he poked the needle in, he just got blood out. He tried one more time -- very painful -- and got what he thought *might* have cells in it, but was probably also blood.
Yesterday, I called to see what the results were, and he said that indeed it had all been blood, so I need to go in for an ultrasound-guided biopsy, in which they use an ultrasound to, well, guide the needle. Not sure when exactly that will be, but I'll know by Friday.
So basically, I got jabbed in the neck twice for nothing. But hey, what's health insurance for if not useless and expensive medical appointments?
Thanks, everyone, for your sweet concern.
