La la la la la la la means I love youuuuuu

Lovely weekend so far. Last night was gonna be bachelor night (in which someotherguy and sogwife spend the night at her place and I stay up way too late reading and posting to Usenet, but someotherguy was totally into his game, so sogwife and I went and saw the Pirate movie. Well, okay, *she* saw it, and I saw most of it. I kept falling asleep, not because I wasn't enjoying it, but because it was late at night and sometimes I just can't stay awake for movies. I haven't been on a date with sogwife in a long time, and it was sweet holding her hand and watching pirates be silly.

Then today, we all (that's me, my three partners, and loracs) went to the Temescal Street Fair and got lots of sun. I also ate my weight in fair food. I was there for about four hours, and this is what I ate:

Grilled-fish taco
Elote (corn on the cob covered in a spicy mayo sauce and sprinkled with cheese)
Bottle of water
Strawberry shortcake (shared with someotherguy and sogwife)
Slice of veggie pizza
1 1/2 truffles (1/2 of a dulce-de-leche-with-chili, and a whole peanut-butter-caramel)
1/2 of loracs's garlic fries, and 1/2 of her knish
Most of a mango smoothie

I decided walking home from the fair would be a better idea than getting a ride home and exploding in the car. :-)

Then someotherguy and I went and did our laundry, which may not sound fun, but always is, bought some more Joe Sayers and some dollar-store items, and came home to veg out.

I'm really in love, really happy, and REALLY tired.

Just out of curiosity, was the earworm in question the original, the Alton Ellis version, the Aretha Franklin version, or some other?

Gosh, I don't know. Certainly not Aretha. It's in my head at almost a novelty-song level of recognition.

I've been gloomier than usual lately, and so I haven't wanted to post much. On the other hand, I have health and love and home, so things can't be that bad, right?

P.S.: The original "La La Means I Love You" was the Delfonics, so it's probably the one you've got stuck in there.

Fun weekend stuff

I wish I could have gone to the Temescal Street Fair - sounds like it was wonderful. However, I had quite a lovely day myself. It was a friend's 40th birthday, and to celebrate, a group of us took an improv class in San Francisco. This is where you improvise little skits based on various suggestions and constraints. But it really was a class, and it was taught well. The teacher started out easy, and warmed us up slowly, so that every new exercise had a bit more challenge, but wasn't totally intimidating. I took one other improv class before, quite a few years ago, and that one was fun too, but this one was better.

After the class, we went and hung out on the grass at Ft. Mason for about an hour, where i got a little sunburn. (Nothing major, but I never remember to put on sunblock.)

Then, out to an Ethiopian restaurant, which was the best one I've ever been to! Delicious. There are about 5 Ethiopian restaurants within 4 blocks of each other on Telegraph Ave, but we were in the city, so we went to one on Fillmore. I also tried honey wine for the first time, which is not too different from mead (which I don't like that much) - however, the wine was good.

Finally, we went to a gelato/espresso joint and got ice cream and coffee. By the time I got home I was utterly exhausted!!

Oh, and this was after a lovely date with firecat the night before, extending to yesterday morning, in which I completed no less than three crafts projects. I now have a new scarf, necklace and bracelet.
