Bouncing back and forth between my knitting, teh intarwebz, and cleaning the kitchen. Here, have a music meme. I've done as several on my lists have, and shuffled my music player. Here are the first lines of the first 20 songs that come up (I'll skip anything where the first line is a dead giveaway; I also skipped "Yellow Ledbetter", whose lyrics I find indecipherable, and Wikipedia agrees with me). I don't think my collection is all that esoteric on the whole, but it did randomly pick some pretty obscure stuff, so we'll see. How many can you get without looking them up?

Bob Dylan wrote it. Jimi Hendrix recorded perhaps the most famous version of it.

According to The Covers Project, there are over 20 different covers of the song, from a dizzyingly diverse range of artists, including John Mellancap, June Tabor & The Oysterband, XTC, and Michael Hedges. And of, course, as Serene later identified, the Indigo Girls, which was the recording she was listening to.

On quizzes like this, when in doubt, I identify the author. Since I collect odd covers, someone would have no way of knowing in a quiz I authored who on Earth was performing it. *grin*
