I fucking hate Microsoft. Don't even ask me why, because I might blow an aneurysm telling you. (not really, but wow, do I wish that NOTHING I ever wanted to do required M$/IE)
Anyway.
At least it was a good food day. Ate a really light breakfast because I knew I was going to Chez Panisse with my bosses. Had to eat fairly soon after lunch, though, because of that whole California-Cuisine-here-let-me-bring-you-a-half-cup-of-really-gorgeous-food thing. But still, I've never been to Chez Panisse before, and I was glad to have the experience*.
And then for dinner, I sauteed onions in a little bacon fat, added peppers/garlic/tomatoes, threw in some lovely Italian sausage, and baked it all in the dutch oven, then served that over risotto that I made with shallots, browned butter, and rennetless parmesan. Oh, my. A friend was going to come to dinner, and I'm sorry she didn't, but I'm not sorry I'll have her dinner to eat for breakfast tomorrow. YUM.
*For those who will ask, and you know who you are:
Bread & butter
A bite or two each of: Local halibut tartare with radishes, shaved fennel, and Meyer lemon; Garden lettuce salad; Baked Andante Dairy goat cheese with garden lettuces; Grilled asparagus with beet relish and mustard flowers
Fish "chowder" that was, as these things tend to be these days, it seems, some seafood in a light butter broth. Delicious (especially the ever-so-tender baby octopus), but nothing like a chowder as my brain parses the word. It had fennel and some other stuff in it. I don't usually love fennel, but this was good.
Others had desserts, none of which really appealed to me even though they sounded good in theory** and plus, it wasn't my money, so I didn't want to order any. Some of the entrees they ate were pork loin with shoestring potatoes and steamed turnips; pizzette with lamb sausage and nettles; spaghetti with pesto and some other stuff that I've forgotten; chicken kiev, and maybe one other.
** I have weird food dislikes: fruit and chocolate together; food that tastes of flowers or licorice; most lemon-flavored things -- almost every dessert had something in it I had no interest in, so I passed.
Anyway.

Date: 2010-05-05 05:48 pm (UTC)I was just complaining about MSWord yesterday. The comp sci fella said "Latex"- gotta learn that. Probably this summer, when things slow down. I don't imagine it does things like web browsing and presentations, but you never know. At least I could stop being mega-annoyed by Word, and I should know a few dozen alternatives for my job, anyway.
