I like making corn bread & other things in my cast-iron skillet in the oven. I don't like forgetting the handle has just been in a 400-degree oven for a half hour. *sigh* Typing with one hand is a drag.

I've done that very thing several times. I always feel like a complete fool when I do. Is it just that I'm used to the handle being cool?

Also, I am making cornbread with dinner tonight--maybe since I've seen this, I can come out of it unscathed this time.

Ouch! I haven't done quite that, but have gotten plenty of burns from bumps and splashes -- get well soon!

Ouch!

I know that DUH feeling. I have you beat I was sottering something once and the wire that was hot was bent funny and silly me went to just move it with my thumb. OMG did it hurt and I had the twisted pattern of the wire imprinted in my thumb for like a year to remind me of a stupid move. Hope your heals soon!

Ow.

It's a little disturbing that this the third LJ entry in a row on my friends list that elicited that response.

I've done that!

OUCH!

One thing I've gotten is one of the silicone sleeves for the handle. It helps a bit, especially once it is out of the oven and still hot. It's one thing to forget that it is hot when it is in the oven. It's so much easier to forget once it is on the stove (where it usually never gets all that hot).
