I expect the rest will be okay, unless they've been wilfully blind to the shape of his household and relationships for years. And if so, they'll probably manage to "forget" they know about you.

After dropping off both LJ and a.p. for the better part of the last year, I wandered back through a.p. today, and your post about stonebender's being in the hospital was the first thing I saw.[1] I regret that I wasn't around to offer well-wishes earlier in this ordeal (so much for shutting out the world and just hoping all's well out there...), but I'm so glad to know he's doing better. I'll be wishing for continued improved health for him, and rest and peace of mind for all of you. (I'll also be heading over to his journal next to drop off my well-wishes there, but in case he's not up to being online for a while, do feel free to pass my good thoughts on to him if you have the chance.)

Whatever the other dimensions of their reaction, I hope his parents are very glad right now to know he's had one more such kind and devoted person loving and caring for him through this rough time. (Though of course, I hope that in other regards as well, their reaction is easier for him -- and you -- than I gather he's anticipated in the past!)
