I really have had good luck with Budget Rental. I found a one-way rental for under $60, so I can drive down this weekend, pick up my mom's car, leave the rental in San Diego, and come back up. Then I'll have mom's car to drive back and forth to San Diego with all summer, or as long as I need it.
