[EDIT: I've gotten a few bites in comments; if none of them work out, I'll repost. LJ is a fabulous thing, y'know?]

Anyone local to me want to take over the Best Temp Job Ever? I'm gonna
quit doing it in a week or so, and they really really need someone right
now. I'm making $15.90 at the moment, and the hours are flexible -- I've
been doing half days, but they would take me any full days I could offer
them.

Let me know if you have any interest. It's a temp position, but it's a
pretty great place to work in the long term, too. (For those who don't
know, it's at UC Berkeley, and if you want a foot in the door for
someplace with really good benefits and a really strong union, this may be
for you. Plus, hey, working in Berkeley, walking distance from *my*
house!)

Good point; thanks. It's just basic admin stuff. Typing, mailing stuff, entering info in mail merge documents, making copies...

I need a job in the worst way right now, Serene. Do you think this is anything I could do?

I don't have a feel for your computer skills, but this stuff is pretty basic. If you can work a mail merge in Word (or just enter the information on individual letters by hand), you can do this. And of course, I'd be willing to come in to train you. I like and admire you a lot, and my boss just told me that he'd love to have my recommendation because he admires my work ethic and judgment.

My computer skills are good...but dated. If you show me how to do it, I can do it.

I am available to start as soon as next Monday.

My love [livejournal.com profile] celticmoni is desperately looking for something with flexible hours and decent pay right now, especially important since she has an autistic 5 year old child to care for, and this sounds perfect for her (she lives in Fremont). If you have an e-mail or phone contact, send it her way to moniness2003 at yahoo dot com.

Gosh, that seems far to go for a temp job, but I'll certainly get in touch with her if [livejournal.com profile] bayarts says no (trying to recommend someone I know first; I hope you understand).

Absolutely. Pays to explore every avenue, of course.

(see below and thank you of thinking of me!)

I'm interested, particularly if you think the bosses might not mind my occasionally saying "I, er, can't work next Friday, I'm taking a Final Cut Pro class" - but I can otherwise offer up to 40 hours/week.

The wages are a lot lower than what I'm getting right now ($22.50/hour), but as I'm being v. upfront about my "I don't intend to be an admin in six months' time" situation, I figure I might have to give a little on the salary front.

I've got a resume at, er... http://www.skaro.com/resume.html :)

How long would they expect a replacement to take over?

I'm looking for work, and am at the point where I am gonna need money.

I'm also interested in getting my foot in the door at UCB, however it comes.

Right now, it's until at least mid-October, but I'd bet money it's going to be for at least another few months, and possibly until the end of the school year. I'm talking with [livejournal.com profile] bayarts about it now; if it won't work for her, I'll ping you, 'kay?
