Sep. 12th, 2007 03:42 pmBeen making this list for more years than I can count. It often helps my mood. Other things that help my mood: Partners I can cry on; therapeutic orgasms; friends who put me in a silly mood; friends who really mean it when they say they're available if I need someone to talk to; etc.
(Things that do not help my mood: Friends who talk about suicide and then stop answering their cellphones -- but that is clearly not about me.)
Five things that are good about me:
1. I keep my commitments
2. I have nice hips
3. I am both a good grown-up and able to be childlike
4. I am good at telling people when I like them
5. I'm a good cook
Five things I'm grateful for:
1. My partners
2. An easier month than usual financially, so that money worries don't have to be among my stresses this month, at least not in that can't-pay-the-phone-bill kind of way
3. Neighbors who bring us fresh produce for free
4. My general emotional stability, that makes me able to weather a rough spot without thinking it's the end of the world
5. My friends
Five people or animals who love me without reservation:
1.
stonebender
2.
someotherguy
3. My mother
4.
wtfpotatoes
5. Munchkin The Elder
Five times in recent memory when I was happy/joyful/contented:
1. Just the other day, I was happy for no reason.
2. Today at The Best Temp Job Ever, I felt competent and appreciated.
3.
stonebender and I had a nice date on Saturday.
4. Eating
sogwife's chicken soup.
5. Eating my own chicken soup a day or two later.
Five things I'm good at:
1. Treating myself well
2. Making toffee
3. Making the best of things
4. Letting other people be who they are
5. Making my boundaries clear

Date: 2007-09-13 01:00 am (UTC)Five Other Things You're Good At:
- giving good advice
- making people you don't even know in person feel truly cared about
- inspiring others with your integrity and warmth
- writing poetry
- giving me hope that there are people out there living life exactly the way they want to and succeeding at it.
I know that internal validation is the most important thing (and this list idea is great, I'm going to remember this for myself), but I figure that some external validation never hurts either.
Love,
Jennifer
