Briana update

Here's what I know (not all I know, but what I'm willing to post), after talking to Briana's sister: Briana is being detained and will be sent to a psychiatric facility for evaluation. Her son is also being evaluated, and will be released to his aunt when they've determined he's good to go. His aunt will let me know if anything changes. Thanks, everyone.

Thanks, babe. I'm doing fine around this. I've spent my whole life in the blast zone of severely depressed people, and I think I take my mom's Oh-there's-work-to-be-done-let's-do-that response to these kinds of chronic emergencies, so they don't tend affect me the way they might if I weren't inured to them. Or something. (NOT saying I love it when my friends are in pain, or when they try to off themselves, but that I seem to be either practiced enough or self-involved enough that it doesn't kick my ass the way it might some people.)

Just catching up with this.

You know what I cherish and love about you? Well, among many other things. You have this dispassionate aspect that I really, really value. When the rest of the world is falling apart, you're taking care of business. I can appreciate that and identify with that. Plenty of time to fall apart after everything is taken care of.

Thank you both. A lot. I used to think it meant I couldn't feel anything. I'm not exaggerating. But I grew up in constant crisis mode, and I coped really well with it most of the time. When I left home and found out that things didn't have to be that way, and then met someone I could really respect and love, I suddenly had all these emotions that I really hadn't known lived in me before that. It's gratifying to be able to hear what you're saying and not feel I've failed at being human because my emotions are shut-offable.
