The Summer of Suck continues

The suckage doesn't stop. Guy's mom is in the hospital with heart troubles, and I don't get to go to San Diego until Wednesday or maybe Thursday.

Got to the same rental place I always use; whipped out the same card I always use; rejected (there's $4K in that account). Two other cards: rejected. Their explanation is that they ran an equifax report and I failed it. They didn't do that last time, and my credit's not THAT bad, but clearly it wasn't good enough, so there I was, stranded and crying in North Berkeley. Came home and looked for other options, but every place is closing any minute now, and no place has cars available for one-way rental tomorrow. If I wait until Monday, I may as well wait until Wednesday, after my surgery. Disappointed, but it'll give me time to rest and recover, so I'm trying not to make too big a deal of it.

I probably shouldn't fly on Wednesday, though (tooth extraction is part of the joy that is my dental surgery that morning, and don't they tell you not to fly after?), so I should probably get on looking for a train or bus or something down.

I'm really really glad I have off work for a while. I need to recuperate, in more ways than one.

So, would it work if someone else, like me, rented for you? My phone number at work is x, and I could leave work in Emeryville at any time, pick you up, take you to a car rental place. Ain't no thang.

Sorry for not answering sooner. I was trying to find someone who stays open late on Friday AND has a car to rent, but had no luck. You are the bestest, though. Thank you so much!
