$500 copay (one-time) for my surgery.

Happily, I can pay it if I get paid in the next few days, and I should it'll hit my bank tomorrow, per the boss. Also happily, I have plenty of food in the house to tide us over for the next lean month or three.

No alt.polycon for me, and I'm okay with that.

Get well soon. Failing that, come up and marry a Canuck!

Resistance would be impolite, eh?

I may not be able to make it to apc, either, thanks to my current dental adventures. I waver between "our health insurance system sucks" and "at least I have health insurance." Which is also a reflection of the suck, I suppose.

Lots of love and vibes with regard to the surgery. Oh, and in general and in perpetuity as well :). Also holler if money doesn't hit your bank on time.

I'm glad that you'll be well, even though the side-effect is sad-making. :/

There *are* things I like about the US health system (or my vague perception of it as an outsider) but this having to be able to afford to pay for surgery type stuff isn't one of them. Hope all goes well and you feel like you got your money's worth! They better be real good and real nice to you seeing as you're pretty directly paying their wages!

Eek.

Not to be a downer, but are you sure this is the total copay? I ask because for all three of my surgeries I have had to pay a copay to the hospital/surgery center, one to the surgeon and one to the anesthesiologist. Hopefully this is not the case for you, but I was shocked when I realized that the copay I paid the surgery center for my wrist surgery in June didn't cover the surgeon and I had to pay him separately. Medical bills have really hit us hard the past two years (three surgeries for me, a couple of hospitalizations, S.'s hospitalization, and other medical expenses for S. and me.)

Anyhow, best wishes to you re: the surgery. I hope everything goes as smoothly and painlessly as possible. I will be thinking of you.

Nope, I'm not sure, and I fully expect to be billed for the surgeon and so on, but this is what I have to pay up front to get the surgery. I'm on 60/40 insurance, so I expect to be nonconsensually buttfucked by this whole thing, financially, until it's over. I've just resigned myself to it.

Total bummer.

If the cash doesn't hit your account (now, or some time in future), do let me know.

Thank you. I'm good to go now, but I truly appreciate the generous offer. You're a really good friend.
