I know that some of you are like me in that you like looking at pictures of things that are interesting-but-gross, so I'm linking to the pictures of my neck staples because I think they're cool, but they're GROSS, so if you click on this link, don't whine to me about sending you to a GROSS, GROSS set of two pics of my neck.

Gross pictures of Serene's staples are at this link.

Wow! Too bad you didn't have the surgery before Halloween ;-)

I'm both sick AND wrong.

I know -- I totally would've drawn on two neck bolts and painted my skin green. :-)

You've totally got to bitch slap your doctor for that one!

If that makes you both sick AND wrong, then it does me too, because that was *exactly* the comment I was going to leave!

That's not bad-looking at all. I bet it's going to heal cleanly -- there doesn't seem to be a lot of inflammation.

If you don't mind my asking, what's the dark area in the middle? Is it a drain, or a bruise, or what?

It's just dried blood, near as I can tell. I haven't been brave enough to get it wet yet. I'm amazed that the staples are coming out on Monday. They really can do amazing things these days.

That looks surprisingly better than I'd imagined.

Healing nicely, I'd say.

Not much pain, I hope.

when I had my spine surgery, they went through the front of my neck, right near where my adam's apple would be if I could see it. I also had staples. Aren't they fantastic? :)

frankensweetie is much much better than what my uncle and father called me (Nicole. As in, Nicole Brown Simpson. It *was* 1994, mind you).

Looks good. Bet you heal without incident. You can hydrogen peroxide soak and then gently tease that little blood clot off, if you're feeling brave.

Let's hear it for Vitamin E capsules once the scar has healed a bit more. :-)

actually, there is some research that one of the best thing for scars is neosporin (or it's generic cousins). probably the base that it is in is moisturizing, but aparently the antibiotics also help reduce the scar redness and swelling.

It doesn't look too swollen, that's good. I know if i had the staples I'd freak out people in restaurants by saying something like "I hope I don't leak," while taking a drink.

Totally not gross ;) My wrist scar looked way freakier 'cause I had over 20 stitches and I think stitches look more franken-like than staples.

Your incision looks really great for an incision. Hopefully it heals soon. How are you feeling?

And just because I feel the need to share my grossness now I give you Franken-hand! (http://pics.livejournal.com/cassidyrose/pic/000eb4fy/) (warning: might be kinda gross and squicky).

Ooh, nifty, so tight and neat!!

(I'm having a roughish evening, thanks for asking. I'm feeling a bit weepy and fragile, but I'm not beating myself up about it. It's understandable, now that I'm home and on the mend and the whew-it's-over euphoria has passed.)

Sorry you are having a rough evening. Surgery is rough business. You're body's been through a lot and it will probably take a while to feel "normal". I have found that general anesthesia makes me feel funky and off for several days after surgery.

Take care of yourself, OK?

Oh, you will love the staple removal. It's done with a heavy duty staple remover which fascinated me to no end--it just seemed so pedestrian for a medical procedure. Silly, I know, but that's how I felt all the same. The good news is that it didn't hurt at all when my c-section staples were removed. Hopefully it won't hurt you either. I much preferred staples to stitches. Stitches itched like nobody's business and I had them for something like two weeks versus the staples for just a few days.

*hugs*

Cool looks like it will end up just looking like a crease in your neck once it is healed. Glad you are home sorry you are feeling fragile hope all gets better soon!
