Such a roller coaster. The theme of the day is how much better my aunt is than i am. Mom is off the hook for drugged insults but they still hurt.

I'm so sorry. Maybe you could steer the conversation towards holiday foods or memories or something else she would enjoy talking about even in a seriously-out-of-it state. Though for all I know the aunt is right there causing and wallowing in it.

Edit: Oops, after posting that I realized that I don't know what the situation is on how soon your Mom will be able to eat regular food -- sorry if the "holiday food" suggestion came across as insensitive in that regard.
