It's a girl!

Um, so apparently the Universe has a sense of humor. You know how I've been gently lamenting the fact that I'm never going to have kids?

Right soon now, I'm getting one. Of course, she's 16 1/2 years old, so I don't have to stay up all night feeding her or anything...

I won't lie and say it was my plan to be the parent of a teenager at this stage of my life, and it's going to mean some big changes around here (including my needing to find lodging for me and a teenager beginning soon), but I think it's a chance for a really cool kid to get a new start, and that part, I'm really excited about.

Plus, I really like this kid, so there's that.

there's probably a ton you can do (ha! I can TOO ask for help! ;-), but right now, it's one-foot-in-front-of-the-other time. I will certainly need your excellent skill for asking the right questions, so next time we're in the same space, expect to get your ear talked off. :-)

You know you don't have to wait until we just happen to be in the same space. Consider this an open invitation for a lunch date, I have an hour every weekday, plus a little over, if needed. I'm just a short bus ride down the street. There's a really good Vietnamese restaurant nearby. Ya got my number. 8-)

(geeking about logistics: Thursday, I'm gonna go to your place for a bit, and then bus over to pick up the Munchkin at the bus station. We'll probably come hang at your place either Saturday after doing the burrito project, or Sunday before we go to Margo's film opening at 6 in the city.)
