Guess what?

someotherguy, sogwife, and I are going to start planning our wedding. Whee!

(We already feel wedded and call each other wife/wife/husband. Last night, someotherguy was on the phone with sogwife and said "Do you wanna say goodnight to your fiancee?" -- My reaction was a completely tongue-in-cheek "Hey! I just got demoted!")

(Also feel wedded to stonebender, but he's not so much with the big elaborate parties. Maybe he and loracs and I should elope. ;-)

I love my sweethearts so much. My heart is full.

Working today

UCB called me in again. So no day off this week. Not until Tuesday, of course unless they need me then, too. I feel okay about it. More money, more time at a job I like, and Ikea hours get cut this week, so I should be able to survive intact.

tenacious_snail delighted us with her presence last night. I always talk over her, but we have fun chatting about every imaginable tangent. And we had yummy food, and I got her addicted to my latest snack addiction, the spicy rice crackers from the Berkeley Bowl bulk department.

Oh, and my sweet boy helped with cleaning up and cooking, and then did all the dishes right after dinner, so I still have a clean house. Helpful sweeties rock. (And sweeties who let one ravish them the minute the guest leaves ain't so bad, neither.)

feels like a good challenge

So the woman I'm replacing is going to be out the rest of the week. That
means I will really be working two jobs for the rest of the week. Lots of
hours, a fair bit of money, and it doesn't feel like it will be too much,
especially after I got some good sleep last night. So this week will
basically be about work and sleep. I can live with that. Not on a
permanent basis, but for the time being. Especially since the UCB job is
just so pleasant that it doesn't feel like a burden to add it to my plate.

And did I mention that someotherguy has been keeping the house
clean while I've been so busy? Did I mention how peaceful and happy I am
in a clean house? I am the luckiest person ever.

posty thingy

So I'm heading off to the dentist soon. When I come back, I want email, so
I'm gonna post one of my patent-pending "Serene is feeling social, so she
wrote a survey" surveys:

Whew.

Whadda day. I feel wrung out. Went to work with a toothache, and left two hours later for an appointment my dentist was able to squeeze me in for. She yanked out the offending molar, which I took home to show to people, of course. Then I was offered a job making roughly three times what I'm making.

Three times. But.

With a defense contractor.

I said no.

*sigh*

Then they had another possible thing for me, but it's not nearly as good as the UCB job, even if it's full-time, so I said no. So I'm back to where I started, and I'm happy with it.

Had what could have turned into a really hard discussion with someone I love (and may still be somewhat difficult), but I was quickly able to find a place of peace about it, in which they're not bad for feeling the way they do, and I'm not bad for feeling the way I do, and I'm hoping that things go well when we talk.

So yeah. Stressful day, but now I have a few hours of downtime. The first opportunity I've had in a long time to just sit on my sofa and veg. May watch movies tonight, or may just veg out. Tomorrow and Friday, I work both jobs, so I should get plenty of rest.

And fun today geeking with someotherguy about the wedding. It will surprise no one that we have really similar ideas about what we want. I wish sogwife were here to geek about it with us, but we'll see her tomorrow night.
