I was thinking about some of you and how we met. I don't have a good
enough memory to tell how I met all of you, but I have fun memories of my
first meetings with several of you.

If you feel like it, post a comment telling about the first time we met.
Tell everything you remember about it, even if it's just that I mangled
your name or that you were wearing your favorite blue boots.

And the cool thing is, I can see my partners making very similar points. Much as I adore my Republican friends (waves at [livejournal.com profile] golden_c_turtle), it's the bleeding-heart liberals that always make me swoon.

(Hush up, TOTGA -- you may call yourself a redneck, but most conservatives I know wouldn't have you. 'Course, neither would most liberals. ;-)

last night

I was in such a weird mood last night. Exhausted, as always, but also really stressy and self-flagellating. This, as you probably know, is not my normal state.

Anyway, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] final_girl, [livejournal.com profile] nadinelet, [livejournal.com profile] imnotandrei, [livejournal.com profile] wild_irises, [livejournal.com profile] alanbostick, [livejournal.com profile] ptigris, [livejournal.com profile] black_pearl_10, and my lovely [livejournal.com profile] sogwife, who lifted me out of self-pity and the grumblies by giving of themselves. [livejournal.com profile] final_girl rocked, as always, and we got the privilege of seeing her new work. [livejournal.com profile] imnotandrei wrote a poem on the spot and it was good stuff! [livejournal.com profile] ptigris has started writing again, and you can see how it's exciting her. [livejournal.com profile] sogwife shared some really personal stuff and I adore her for it. There was much talk of finding and losing asses. There were silly prizes. There were lovely audience members (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy, [livejournal.com profile] stonebender, and [livejournal.com profile] loracs. There were awesome (and *hawt*) barristas.

It's a small reading. I would daresay it's more of a salon than anything -- small space, handful of people, workshoppy feel sometimes. I love it when it works, and I'm so glad people have been coming by to share it with me. Lately, I've wondered if I'm gonna quit doing it -- to be honest, I prefer being a participant to being a leader. And maybe I'll see if I can get other people to help with the leading thing. ([livejournal.com profile] nadinelet says she will help me with publicity ideas, too.) But when it goes well, as it did last night, I really do feel like it's worth the angst.

May I have a copy of that spontaneous poem, please?
