We don't really do Christmas around here, but I had a fun day cooking, and then a nice evening eating and visiting with [livejournal.com profile] jwermont and [livejournal.com profile] sogwife. Nice, peaceful day.

Mom, to me earlier today: "Today's your last day for loud, crazy sex!"
Me: "Hey! I thought you said that was TMI!"
Her: "Not when I say it."

:-)

Yep, tomorrow we get our teenager back. I'm so glad.

Well, a kindergartener could have made a better gingerbread Tardis. Still, it's just about done. REALLY really amateurishly done, but hey, we're genuine amateurs. :-)

She's home safe. We're scarfing Thai-ish noodles (chicken, rice noodles, a sauce of half kecap manis, half fish sauce) and hanging out while we do our own thing. This is me being relieved and happy.

It will probably surprise no one that the kid who loves to stay up until the wee hours crashed around 9:30 and is now out like a light.

No grumpiness, by the way -- she's been great. Just really glad to be home and a little manic, but she drank a bunch of Monster today, so that's to be expected. :-)

She missed my cooking. She missed her apple juice. She missed her bed. And she missed us.

So glad she's home.

A little over six months ago, things happened in the Munchkin's family that meant she needed a place to live. The plan between me and [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy had always been that if I needed to take on a kid or two, we would rent a separate place for me and the kid(s) for the duration, and move back in together when it was over. I never expected him to take on a teenager, and this solution sounded doable to us both.

Then it happened, and [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy decided he would give the whole living-with-a-kid thing a try. He's been *amazing*, and never more than this week, when he's made a sweet little welcome-home-for-Christmas atmosphere for [livejournal.com profile] wtfpotatoes.

I am so lucky. [livejournal.com profile] wtfpotatoes is, too, to have this man as a member of her family. She's a typical teenager. He's an extraordinary man.

Thank you, James. I love you so much.
