Lovely house, lovely women to discuss literature with, lovely snacks, and such an adorable dog. [livejournal.com profile] tenacious_snail invited me to her book group tonight, and I got past my utter resistence to new social situations and went. Made toffee, got lost, found the place, listened a lot, made some conversation, petted the dog, got along with the dog (a biggie if you know me -- maybe [livejournal.com profile] stonebender's dog has broken my streak), and had a very nice time. [livejournal.com profile] tenacious_snail is so kind and neighborly, and I do appreciate it.

Come to think of it, thanks to all of the people who have made this move feel like coming home. [livejournal.com profile] bayarts had me at a book reading almost immediately. The local wombabes have all welcomed me, either in email or in person. [livejournal.com profile] stonebender and his partner have been fucking amazing. Tons of really incredible people came to the housewarming. [livejournal.com profile] wild_irises and [livejournal.com profile] alanbostick are my nearest neighbors and always seem glad to see me. I could go on and on. Thanks, all of you. And thanks to my newest neighbor, [livejournal.com profile] tenacious_snail.

You could cut "seem" out of the sentence about me and [livejournal.com profile] alanbostick, you know. I at least always am glad to see you, and I very much doubt that he would disagree ...

It was wonderful to have you! I know it can be a challenge to go to a new place, to see someone you've met once, and discussion on a book you haven't read. Glad to know that I'm being kind and neighborly. Those are things I *want* to do. Somehow, this whole break-up-with-Ladybug-and-move-to-Berkeley thing has been The Best Ever. And falling in with the right crowd of folks, just the absolute right crowd (and clump).
