Oct. 21st, 2009 02:14 pmAs a follow-up to my previous posts, and to answer some alarmed folks:
I've been on vitamin D therapy since I had my thyroid surgery, because the parathyroid, which is part of the whole vitamin D process in the body, is usually damaged at least a little during a thyroidectomy. I take vitamin D every day, but it's not enough just yet, so I'm going to be taking a massive dose (50 times my regular daily dose) once a week for six weeks, and then a higher dose than I've been taking, so that my levels come back up. The doctor doesn't sound worried, just proactive. He says it may help my fatigue and my brittle bones, so that's a big win right there, and it's always a relief to have a diagnosis with an easy fix.
