Cranberries!
Nov. 14th, 2005 11:14 pmIn my attempt to cheer myself up, I decided to make the cranberry relish for T-day. It really does look pepto-bismol pink, as you'll see if you look at the pics. Also, I had a cup of cranberries and some underripe figs left, so I made cranberry sauce with figs. I'll give some to the sweet woman who gave us the figs, and eat the rest. It's like cranberry sauce, but sweeter and more textured. Yumma.

Date: 2005-11-15 05:21 pm (UTC)My grandma used to run two parts whole cranberries, two parts oranges (whole, sliced to fit into the grinder), one part sugar, and one part walnuts (optional, I swear I spent half my life cracking walnuts for Grandma, and loved it) through a meat grinder to store it for a few days before Thanksgiving. She adjusted sugar for sweetness after blending it all, because the sweetness of the oranges varies. I think I might bring your fig version to a family dinner this year. Thanks. :)
