translation help?

Can anyone translate this into Japanese for me, or point me to someone who
can? I don't want to trust translation engines.

"Thank you for being so kind to me. Here is a gift for you, and I will
send you a postcard from Tokyo in August."

I can't help you with the translation, but I heartily endorse your disinclination to trust translation engines. From everything I've seen, their only real reason for existence is to provide amusement.

I have a friend who is studying for the Level 3 Japanese qualification offered by their government... hope this is helpful:

"a) Is this going to be spoken or a written letter?
b) Is the other person older / more senior, or younger / junior?

I've written it as if it were a letter

Here is a present. (Yes they really do use the word present in this
situation)

sore kara, watashi ha hachi gatsu ni tokyo kara hagaki wo okurimasu.
[after present-giving], I will in August from Tokyo a postcard send.
