Once, I had someone tell me she thought I was too invested in presenting my life as easy. I've also had people tell me that it seems like nothing upsets me or is ever hard for me.

Today, my life has been hard. Being happy has been hard.

But I'm doing the best I can to take care of myself, and I know myself, and I know I'll be happy again soon, because that's how it works for me -- unhappy never lasts very long.

And hey, I have health insurance now, so if I start collapsing from stress, I can rush myself to the emergency room and not wonder which limb I'll have to sell to afford it.

I'm sorry you had a hard day, and am glad you have the insurance now.

On the other topic, there are things that are probably hard for everyone, but a lot of the difficult/easy dichotomy, I think, is that different things bother different people. Some of the rest is skills and temperament. For me, lifting weights is easier than wearing makeup; just looking around, I suspect that the reverse is true for many people. (More substantively, I keep seeing to people say "of course poly is difficult. Relationships are difficult" and not really knowing how to say "well, not always. Sometimes both are easy." Which may just be that much of the work involved is stuff I enjoy doing, so it doesn't feel like hard work: metaphorically, I'm cooking rice or planting daffodils, not scrubbing floors.)

Hi there, here via inflectionpoint and tenacious_snail and it looks like we both know eeyore_grrl as well.

inflectionpoint said you'd recently been to Japan. eeyore42 and I are leaving Monday for a week (for me) and 20 days (for him). Do you have any advice on packing, or tips for getting around?

If you have time, I'd appreciate any suggestions you might have.

(congrats on the health insurance. I've been without it and didn't like it at all. Much more comfortable WITH.
