Stuff that's fun about my life:

1) Having two jobs I like, working for two people I like (yes, one of them is me -- so?)

2) Having crushes again. I thought my crushimicator was broken

3) Saying "crushimicator"

4) Tom Petty (well, he's something fun about life in general, not mine specifically)

5) The people in it

6) Making the foods of my childhood

It is *delicious*, but needs some tweaking. My mom is, I'm certain, misremembering the liquid content. I used half what she said, and it was still soupyish, but almost perfect. There were spots of underdoneness in the rice, though -- not enough to justify more liquid or anything. Might be my oven, might be something else.

But the biggest thing is that it took twice as long as she said, and it has me wondering if she used converted rice or something, because the chicken was good and done and the rest took so long.

My mom hasn't made the dish in probably twenty-five years and we can't find the original recipe, so I'm pretty happy that I came as close as I did.

I was afraid it would be too salty with all that soup in it, but I didn't add any salt, and it turned out great.

One time in the late 1980s, I saw Tom Petty and Bob Dylan perform together at an outdoor concert in Portland, OR. Fun stuff!
