I'm a little punchy. All these poetry submissions require short bios, and I got tired of sending the same couple out -- besides, if more than one place accepts me, I end up with the same bio in two publications, and that's just gauche.

Recent submissions:

Serene is an editor and writer in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she lives with her three partners in what she likes to call "our glamorous poly lifestyle". Her glamorous poly lifestyle actually consists of doing the laundry, working in her underwear, and practicing her experimental vegan cooking skills.

Serene is a writer and editor recently transplanted from San Diego to Oakland, where the fact that she's a queer, polyamorous atheist raises far fewer eyebrows.

If anyone feels like writing one of these for me, I'd love it.

Oh, and in paid-work news, I just got the offer for the job-with-benefits-working-from-home thing I've been alluding to, and I said yes. That's the last step toward becoming a professional homebody. If I weren't so sick, you'd be able to feel my elation from wherever you are, but you can just take it as read.

Oh, and I took three little incomplete-feeling poem snippets (probably oneword exercises or similar) and turned them into a poem about my breakup with cute-poet-chick that I really love. Sometimes I like this being-a-writer thing.

Accomplishments today:

Slept a LOT
Submitted two poems
Made dinner
Worked a few hours of paid work
Secured health insurance (won't kick in right away, but it's being processed, anyway)

Not bad for a chick who can barely move without coughing up a lung

G'night, folks!

I just got a call from [livejournal.com profile] kevinkjr, AKA "The Boy Genius" (cute-poet-chick just called him Boy-Gee). He's my second-oldest internet friend (TOTGA is my oldest -- hey, TOTGA!). Anyhow, he's coming to visit, YAYYYYY!!!! Last week of March, looks like. Hope some folks will have time to go touristing with us.

YAY!!!

Now, if you know me, you'll know I'm not overly fond of the phone. Today, however, was a good phone day. First, I heard from the boy genius, and then I got a call from [livejournal.com profile] the_maenad, who is in town for the week. We're gonna get together in a day or two and hang out. I haven't seen her since Boston -- what year was that? 2002? -- and then there was some weirdness with her and the person she was seeing at the time, so we went without contact for a very long time. Anyway, I was glad to hear from her, and it'll be good to see her and catch up.

Keep trying to motivate myself to work. Not doing a stellar job, but I'm gonna give it one more try and then perhaps give up for the day.

Okay, I give up. I can't work, I can't think, the slightest kindness from my partners makes me cry, and it takes me four tries to type a simple sentence.

I just sent email to my contract boss telling him I'm taking tomorrow off, and he'll get his usual Monday update on Tuesday. Tonight, I sleep. Tomorrow, I sleep. And sleep. And sleep. Let's see if that helps.

Thanks to someone who has it in a locked post (you know who you are) for posting the link to my new favorite website -- VeryBadPorn.com.
