The benefit of a job with a flexible schedule is that if you have a day that alternates the good with the crappy so utterly that you are exhausted straight to the core of you, you can write to your boss and say, Hey, I'm gonna stay home tomorrow and do a little work and a lot of resting up; see you Monday.

Tomorrow, I get to snuggle with my boyfriend all morning if I want to (and if he wants to). I can't even tell you when the last time was that we did that, that's how long it's been.

And then in the afternoon, I'm sending [livejournal.com profile] wtfpotatoes off on a library expotition. Time alone with my boyfriend in my very own house. What a concept.

Yesterday really alternated between great and awful. Work was great; home was awful (don't hear me say that much, do you?); getting together with [livejournal.com profile] bastette_joyce and [livejournal.com profile] firecat for Joyce's birthday was great; being utterly depleted/defeated by the end of the day was awful. But then I shook myself out of my terrible funk, wrote to my bosses and told them I'm staying home today, and went and wrapped myself up in my boyfriend and went to sleep.

Funny thing about sleep. When I get enough, I wake up in the morning and things aren't so yucky.

How's with you? Anyone have any exciting weekend plans? We're doing game night tonight, then I have birthday-hanging-out plans tomorrow with [livejournal.com profile] stonebender and Sunday with [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy.

This may seem weird to some people, but sitting all morning in the slush pile, reading submissions to 42, is making me feel so happy and loved. If it weren't for this, I'm pretty sure I'd be curled up in the closet in the fetal position.

Thank you to everyone who has poured time and energy into this project. We're still looking for submissions, lots of them, and we may even be going full-color on the cover, so if you've got cover art that fits the theme, I'd love to see it.

Thanks so much to [livejournal.com profile] stonebender and [livejournal.com profile] loracs for a great game night! Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dbubley, [livejournal.com profile] sogwife, [livejournal.com profile] wtfpotatoes, [livejournal.com profile] tiger_spot, [livejournal.com profile] andres_s_p_b, [livejournal.com profile] brooksmoses, [livejournal.com profile] chinders, J-who-may-not-be-on-LJ, R-who-may-not-be-on-LJ, and [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy, as well, for a great party. We just played the one game (Apples to Apples, which was fun, even with ten people playing), but there was a lot of talking and a lot of laughing, and I had a great time.

And now I should probably go crash out, but I'm more likely to goof off online for a while to decompress.

How was YOUR Friday night?

The birthday schwag continues to pour in. Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] sogwife, [livejournal.com profile] stonebender, [livejournal.com profile] loracs, and [livejournal.com profile] dbubley! (Also, [livejournal.com profile] wtfpotatoes says she will do anything I want her to tomorrow, and I don't have to do a darn thing. Says she'll even do the dreaded dishwashing if I want. Talk about a gift!)

You can see the gifts I received below the cut. I am amused that when I went looking for a generic pic of Ethiopian food to represent the dinner that [livejournal.com profile] mommaduck bought us, I googled "Ethiopian combo" and got a pic that was *exactly* the meal we ate (veggie combo and a side of zucchini wot) at the exact restaurant we ate at. Very cool. :-)
